This is a fun and easy recipe to use with your students and family. After completing a research project on Penguins and reading the classic, Mr. Poppers Penguins by Florence and Richard Atwater, we created chocolate covered penguins using Oreos and Nutter Butter cookies.

Ingredients
- 1 package Nutter Butter Double Nutty Cookies
- 1 package Oreo cookies
- 12 oz. package dark chocolate candy wafers
- 6 oz. milk chocolate candy wafers
- 12 oz. package white chocolate candy wafers
- 1 container small candy eyes
- 1 bag mini M & M's
- 1 bag regular M & M's
- 10 orange flavored Tootsie Rolls
Instructions
- Line tray or table with waxed paper.
- Melt dark chocolate wafers adding a desired amount of milk chocolate wafers. Heat in microwave stirring every 30 seconds until melted.
- Place one cookie at a time into the melted chocolate, use two forks or spoons to remove cookie, letting excess chocolate drip back into bowl.
- Place on waxed paper.
- Add two eyes, orange M & M's for beak and feet, and white chocolate candy wafer for the penguin's belly.
- Sliced orange Tootsie Rolls can also be used for penguin's feet or beak.
- Let chocolate covered penguin harden, chocolate will no longer be shiny when hardened.
